Little Lulu for Kleenex-1940's-1950's

LITTLE LULU is justly lionized today for John Stanley's hilarious comic book adaptations but the original panel, by Marge (Marjorie Henderson Buell), started it all and, throughout the middle of the decade, Lulu was the ubiquitous spokesperson for Kleenex! 1. Charming!

One of the many things I never thought about was the way it's commonplace for all tissues to just snap out of the box a single sheet at a time. Someone of course thought of it first. Is that why Kleenix dominated the field?
